In the United States, over 5.5 million people of all ages live with Alzheimer’s Disease, a form of dementia that restricts a person’s memory, thinking, and behavior. Some examples of symptoms include losing train of thought and having difficulty staying focused, having trouble finding the right words, feeling increasingly overwhelmed, and having problems understanding instructions. These symptoms worsen over time, interfering with activities of daily living (ADL) and leaving the patient feeling isolated. Alzheimer’s is extremely taxing on patients and families alike. Education on Alzheimer’s is imperative in order to help prepare patients and family members for what to expect and how to deal with the symptoms.
